South is the third and final suite of poems written by Kerry to accompany photographs by William Williams, and is available free of charge as a PDF (via the image link below).

Work from the first two suites formed the basis of Young Country, published by Auckland University Press in 2014. Poems and photographs from both collections were included in the Young Country exhibition which toured public galleries in New Zealand in 2014-2017.

The work was designed for poems and photographs to be seen together, and should be read in ‘facing page’ view rather than as a scroll of single pages. The pages opposite the ‘Broken plates’ poems allude to absent images, Williams having lost some of his glass-plate negatives when his canoe capsized.
